A Non Emulsifying Oil Cleanser.
I am a novice when it comes to owning non emulsifying cleansers and I wanted to experience this as a cleansing step in my routine. When Earthwise Beauty launched ‘Paloma of the high desert’ , their non emulsifying cleanser, I knew I wanted it that very moment . The connection was instant. I was looking out for this cleanser and when ShopTheBeautyGarden came up with a GWP ( gift with purchase ) on the Earthwise Beauty, I just couldn’t resist. Erika, the founder of Shop the Beauty Garden is gem of a person and actually helped me navigate to this offer just in time. And am so glad she did.

Texture and Scent
Paloma of the High Desert Made in the base of Jojoba oil, the oil mix boast of Kalahari, Prickly Pear, Pomegrenate, Baobab, Sacha Ichi and tomato. All these oils are high on their Non-comedogenic rating and hence this makes a good choice for someone like me who has a combination skin type and is acne prone as well. It’s apt in the texture – its cushiony, has a wonderful slip and doesn’t sink immediately. A lovely slip helps glide ones hands in easy motions around the face for longer massage rituals. As a cleanser, it breaks the make up easily , even your toughest mascara. but since it has no surfactant, you need a warm moist wash cloth to wipe of this off your face or wash off with a second cleanse which should be a foaming cleanser.
The first time when I opened this bottle, the scent dropped a hint of a calm aromatic experience. My olfactory nerves aren’t trained much to decipher it precisely, but the scent is grounding, sweet and powdery at the same time. I do sense geranium and rose but not in a sharp note, a sublime powdery mixed with a hint of green and citrus. It transports me to a place I have never been. It’s not a forest, it’s not a mountain, it’s not a beach. May be it’s a quiet evening in a desert?
Considering it’s a blend of beautiful oils of Kalahari melon, prickly pear, pomegranate , tomato I am unable to use it just as a cleanser. I have reserved it for my facial massages as the aroma itself is the most beautiful therapy in itself.I find it’s scent very addictive in a way something that is trying to connect to me and I am yet to decipher where is this place of calling for me.
How to Use
I use dispense 3-4 pumps on my hand and massage it softly on my face. the texture is cushiony and it has a lot of slip. The more you massage, the more it starts to thinning out and starts sinking after a good ten minutes massage. If am removing my make up , I massage only for about 5 minutes (as I donnot want the broken down make up to sink in along with the oil) and I take off the entire make up with a warm wash cloth. Whereas for my facial massages I like to massage much longer before I take it off with a wash cloth.
What I have noticed is that If you dont massage it well and just take it off with a second cleanser it will leave a residue on your face. Unless you are using a harsh second cleanser which you definitely wouldnt want to. So the best is to massage well and use a warm wash cloth and then rinse it with a gentle cleanser.
