A Swiss based brand that leaves a significant social impact on vulnerable communities in India through every product sold since their Launch in 2014. Abhati prides in taking significant efforts to support local initiatives related to educating girls in rural India through their partnership with Educate Girls. Not only that, as a brand Abhati works directly with farming families in the Himachal Pradesh region of India, who grow the organic and wildcrafted whole plant ingredients that go into every Abhati product. Part of B corp community and 1% for planet community, the brand is committed to using their profit to care for the planet, and dedicate a portion of revenue to reforestation initiatives spearheaded by WeForest.org.

Abhati has a range of skincare, haircare and body care line. The entire range comprises of organically sourced ingredients. I was intrigued by the Shampoo and conditioner and I gave the haircare line a try. Being someone who has chemically coloured treated hair, I wasn’t sure if this was the right choice for my hair. But I must say the haircare line faired very well for me.

YAMUNA – THE NOURISHING SHAMPOO

A wonderful nourishing formula with a beautiful scent, I can’t praise this enough. Well formulated with ingredients like naturally-sourced lauryl glucoside, commonly found in willowbark, as well as Himalayan wild cherry oil, (high in omega-3, the vitamin commonly contained in hair-growth pills and responsible for skin and nail health as well), hibiscus extract, and many other organic ingredients and oils to achieve truly clean and lustrous yet nourished hair. It cleanses my hair and scalp pretty well and my hair feels quite light. Surprisingly, this also works well on oiled hair though I use the shampoo twice to do that. The shampoo has a runny consistency so one needs to be careful while pouring it out on the palm. I have shoulder length, thick wavy hair and for me I one scoop and a half works well.

The scent of this shampoo’s formula takes hair shampooing to the next level. I absolutely adore the uplifting scent it has. Very natural, subtle and yet evoking a blissful naturally happy state of mind. Every ritual cleanses the build up of grease / sweat / dandruff on scalp effortlessly with a pleasure to ones olfactory nerves. There is nothing to not like about this formula.

MAHAKALI – THE NOURISHING CONDITIONER

I seal my hair wash ritual with Mahakali, the hair conditioner.  The conditioner formulations consists of ABHATI Suisse’s signature blend of Himalayan wild cherry, moringa ,neem leaves and fenugreek with Swiss edelweiss and sunflower lipids. This too has a very faint scent, so it doesn’t overpower the shampoo scent. In terms of texture, its a bit on the runny side as compared to other conditioners that I have been using. I need to use this three times the amount I usually use for my regular conditioners, since my hair is thick and wavy. However, if I try to detangle with a wide toothed comb post application, it doesn’t really detangle as easily as my other conditioners normally do. Having said that, it doesn’t weigh down my hair at all. My waves fall pretty well post wash – bouncy and uplifted yes. I do feel it will make one of the the best hair conditioner for thin hair.

My respect for B corp companies is high and I love to put my money into companies that give back for girl child education. Brands like Abhati, are a true source of inspiration. They are not only sourcing the ingredients, but also the nomenclature of their line is so inspired by the Indian rivers, places and godesses. They are not only bringing awareness to some amazing Indian herbs and oils, but also giving back by donating to educate girls Ngo. I look forward to trying more from their line.

Love to discover brands that give back to the planet and community as a whole.
